BRIAN'S BIG TAILGATE
April 11th, 2026 at 12 PM
2250 Brittany Lane Powhatan, VA 23139
Brian was all about family, sports, and enjoying time together with dear friends. Our family shared many fond memories of fabulous tailgates with his dear friends. When our younger daughter Alison went to UVA, Brian wanted to make sure her friends had an event where they could gather, stop the studying, and have some fun. Hence the Price Ave. tailgates began in the driveway between Alison’s house and their friends next door.
Brian enjoyed the camaraderie of hosting with his friend Dave, and we invited friends and family to join. Brian expressed his love for others in acts of service and in uniting people. He fervently looked forward to the tailgates he so lovingly prepared and executed so that everyone could have a good time!
Brian was not about pomp and circumstance. He did not want to be recognized for all that he did. He just wanted to show up, create a memory, share some stories and connections with people, and then go watch some football!
To that end, we want to invite you to celebrate Brian’s life with a big tailgate! We will convene at Brian’s parents’ house. It is where we celebrated engagements, Easters, Christmases, and all the family celebrations.
Powhatan has a farm flavor, an homage to his family’s roots in Iowa. There we will honor Brian as we share thoughts and memories of the many ways in which he deeply claimed our hearts. We will not wear black or pretense. Come adorned in your favorite tailgate dress, khakis, shorts if you’d like, and flip flops if you feel it. Bring your favorite tailgate dish, BYOB (it’s a tailgate for goodness' sake), and get ready to hear some whopping stories. Brian loved a good time and relaying what happened during that time for many years to come. We know in our hearts that Brian will be with us that day, smiling at everyone, patting them on the back, giving them a hug, and thinking, “This is great!”

BRIAN VONDERHARR

Was gutted to learn of Brian's passing today. He welcomed me onto the team at Anywhere in 2024 and we quickly bonded over soccer, family, college sports, theater, ways of working, and ways of treating people. Although we never met in person, I always looked forward to weekly conversations with Brian, and considered him both a friend and a trusted colleague. Professionally, he was our team's moral compass, artfully guiding us with pragmatism in the direction we needed to go. He was such a kind, fun, joyful, and caring soul, and he will be deeply missed. My world was definitely better for having met Brian over the last couple years and my heart goes out to his family and loved ones. He's a good one gone way to soon. Rest easy my friend!
Brian and I worked together for a few years while at Anywhere Real Estate. Brian was one of those folks who made the people he worked with better. We completed a large project for the company, and I have no doubt that it would not have been as successful without Brian. Brian will be missed and my deep condolences to his family and loved ones.
I had the privilege of working with Brian at Anywhere. He was a truly gem of a person; he is approachable, supportive and someone always fostered positive & healthy team environment.
Whenever team needed any support, Brian was always there to help. I also fondly remember his engaging discussions about soccer with other team members, which brought everyone together.
It's hard to believe that Brian is no longer with us. My deepest condolences to Brian's family, he will always be remembered.
Brian and I worked together for a few years at Anywhere. We would share a meeting almost every day, and every time he would be the most friendly and most patient person on the call. At times when everybody wants to talk, he was the one who would be willing to listen and make sure everybody has been heard. He was truly a great person to work with, and I am sure a great person to be friends with. We both were into soccer, and I enjoyed our conversations so much! Such a great loss... my deepest condolences to Brian's family, he will be missed by many many people.
I am shocked and saddened! I worked with Brian at Anywhere where he was our fantastic Scrum master. We really were blessed to have him help us hone and perfect our team's processes, his obvious passion for the work always showed through. He always added a great positive energy to the team and would often start out meetings talking about his other passion, sports games. He will be missed and remembered.
Brian was SM for three of my teams. Apart from professional relationship, I remember him as true friend who has genuine interest in well being of others. Last we spoke with each other on Feb 16th. I can’t believe I lost a good friend. My heart felt condolences to his family!!
I cannot believe this. Brian was our Scrum Master at Anywhere Real Estate. We worked closely for over 3 years. Brian was so passionate about Agile Principles and constantly worked with the team to adapt those Principles and improve the team's productivity. I always compared him to great Basketball coaches who even though don't play, bring best in every player. He would have been such a great asset to any company. Very sad indeed.
Sadly, Brian and I hadn’t kept in touch, but I have nothing but great memories of our adventures in high school and college. We played soccer together in middle school, high school, and college, but he was more than just an awesome teammate. Brian was a friend who you could always count on. I frequently think about the concerts, road trips, soccer games, and other great times we shared. He was one of a kind, and I have yet to meet anyone with his integrity and honesty. I will miss him.
My sincere sympathy to the family in this time of great loss. I worked with Brian at Capital One and always appreciated his positive attitude and love of agile process like me. Our son and his daughter shared the stage in the Adam’s Family summer show at Dogwood Dell a few years ago. A happy time!
I’m truly heartbroken to hear about the passing of Brian. During my time at Capital One, I had the privilege of working with him, and his constant support, encouragement, and genuine care are things I will always remember.
The loss of someone so compassionate and selfless is deeply felt.
My heart goes out to his family, loved ones, and everyone who had the honor of knowing him.
